Happy 84th Birthday, Anne Frank (June 12, 1929 - March 1945)

“I don’t want to have lived in vain like most people. I want to be useful or bring enjoyment to people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death! And that’s why I’m grateful to God for having given me this gift, which I can use to develop and to express all that’s inside me!”

One Million Bones DC

Led by artist Naomi Natale as part of the One Million Bones Project, this mass grave assembled at the National Mall in Washington, DC is composed of bones made of paper and plaster, but symbolizes the very real number of people killed in places like Sudan, Germany, and the former Yugoslavi. Each bone created by students and volunteers was matched with $1 sent to CARE, which helps send aid to Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Stunning… Although I perceived it to be standing for other countries too.
